Humble Beginnings to Industry Leaders
In the mid-1980s, Don Meth embarked on a journey that would lay the foundation for American Plating. Starting with just one machine and a couple of friends in a one-car garage in the Rainier Valley area, Don honed his craft under the mentorship of top metal finishers in the industry.
As word spread about the exceptional quality of his workmanship, the business rapidly expanded, necessitating moves to larger facilities in South Park and later to a hangar on the north end of Boeing Field in the Georgetown industrial area. By January 2010, the demand for our services had grown so significantly that we relocated back to the original Advanced Electroplating building in South Park, where we continue to thrive.

Our meticulous metal finishing process begins with sandblasting to remove rust and debris and using a high-quality polishing wheel to achieve a mirror-like finish, unless a grain finish is specified. This step ensures the parts have a flawless, reflective surface after they are thoroughly cleaned and carefully wrapped for protection, preserving their pristine condition until they reach you. Chrome Plating
Achieving Your Flawless Finish
Our chrome plating process begins with stripping the parts of their old finish, followed by sandblasting to remove any remaining debris. Next, the parts undergo a thorough cleaning bath. The polishing process prepares the parts for copper plating, followed by copper buffing. Nickel plating and buffing are performed if needed, culminating in the final chrome plating and chrome buffing stages. To ensure lasting protection, each part is waxed and carefully wrapped, preserving its pristine condition.
